  • Dubmatique is a Canadian Hip Hop group formed in 1992 in Montreal. The groups original line up consisted of OTMC, Disoul (Jérôme-Philippe), and Dj Choice. They were the first French language Hip Hop group from Canada to have a number one hit single on Canada's francophone pop charts.They have released four albums: %22La force de comprendre%22 in 1997, the self titled %22Dubmatique%22 in 1998, %22Influences%22 in 2001 and %22Trait d'union%22 in 2009. %22La force de comprendre%22 is certified platinum, and %22Dubmatique%22 is certified gold. All four albums have charted on major radio stations, received rave reviews, and were nominated at the French Canadian equivalent of the %22Grammy Awards%22 called %22Le Gala de L'ADISQ%22. The awards they won included %22Group of the Year%22, %22Best Rock Alternative Album%22 (Their first year at %22Le Gala de L'ADISQ%22, they didn't have a Hip Hop section), and %22Best Hip Hop Album%22 twice.

The group's style has an acid jazz/R&B flow similar to Gangstarr and Fugees.They have released four albums: La force de comprendre in 1997, Dubmatique in 1998, Influences in 2001 and Trait d'union in 2009. La force de comprendre sold over 120,000 copies. The self-titled second album sold 35,000 copies in its first week of release.The group consisted of three artists Disoul (real name Jérôme-Philippe Bélinga originating from Cameroun), OTMC and DJ Choice (namely Alain Benabdallah). After releasing two albums, DJ Choice left the group, and OTMC and Disoul continued with guest DJs on the group's later album. Guest musicians on their albums have included Éric Lapointe, Shurik'n, Akhenaton and Ashley MacIsaac.
