William %22Bud%22 began working in the recording studio in Chicago around 1987~1988-ish a few years after the birth of house and industrial music. As the 'House' music sound began to become the mainstream choice across the US at the end of 1980's, replacing the Freestyle and syncopated Electro sounds in the majority of nightclubs across the US, LaTour at that time became a solo electronic artist around 1991 and charting seven dance singles from two albums in the early 1990's.LaTour has also appeared on BBC's Top of the Pops, MTV's Spring Break and Beavis and Butthead, NBC's Nightline and HBO's Sex Show, as well as appearences on CNN, MSNBC and PBS talk shows, explaining the meaning behind his edgy & controversial lyrics. Several films, television shows, news and radio programs feature the classic and current music of LaTour. The dance single %22Blue%22 was featured in the movie Basic Instinct and a televison episode of ABC-TV's Alias in 2003.

His musical genres span electronic, house, glam, rock, dance, punk, and parody.He is best known for the 1991 Number 1 Billboard electronic dance hit %22People Are Still Having Sex.%22 and for his instrumental deep house track, %22Blue.%22%22Blue%22 was featured in the motion picture film Basic Instinct, as well as being featured on the ABC television series Alias. He was a producer of house music when he released his first album, titled LaTour. He released a second album, Home on the Range, in 1993.LaTour was a founding member, keyboardist, writer, and musical director for the legendary punk band The Squids, who formed in Chicago in 1989. The Squids continue to remain active with their music video release of %22Get Off My Cloud%22 which debuted on YouTube, and Funny or Die in 2013. The %22Get Off My Cloud' video reached #1 in the music video category on Funny Or Die for four consecutive weeks in September of 2014, and eventually climbed back to #1 again Christmas week of 2014. %22Get Off My Cloud%22 has since become the highest rated music video ever on the Emmy winning website which was founded by Will Ferrell and Adam McKay in 2007.The Squids remain a favorite among mid 90's indie alternative.His initial single climbed to number one on the Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart, and became a Billboard Hot 100 Top 40 hit (#35). In the UK, the song became a Top 20 hit in the UK Singles Chart (#15) after he performed on Top of The Pops alongside Bette Midler and Cher. He has also had other hits on the U.S. Hot Dance chart, including the songs %22Cold,%22 %22Hypnomania,%22 %22Craziaskowboi,%22 and %22E.%22
