She developed her vocal style influenced by Phyllis Hyman, Donny Hathaway, Nancy Wilson and Billie Holiday. She started her soul vocal career as opening act of the Manhattans gigs. In 1986 she recorded a duet with them, %22Where Did We Go Wrong%22 included in their album %22Back To Basics%22.In 1988 she was signed at Columbia Records where she released her first four albums. Four more albums during the decade 1998 - 2008 at various record labels.She has a tradition of recording duets: - With Peabo Bryson, %22Without You%22 (1987), the love theme from the movie %22Leonard Part 6%22 and the Oscar and Grammy awarded %22A Whole New World%22 (1992) from the Disney movie %22Aladdin%22.- With J.T.
