Instance: as used in DMOP, should be taken to denote DM-Instance. In the general sense, an object is an instance of a set or class if it is included in that set or class [http://virtual.cvut.cz/ksmsaWeb/browser/title]. In data mining, a (DM-)Instance is an instance of a dataset and is therefore synonymous with case or example or observation as used in statistics.
