Las Yersinias son bacilos del tipo gramnegativos aerobios y anaerobios facultativos; son m\u00F3tiles a 22 \u00B0C, pero no a 37 \u00B0C, por flagelos anfitricos, o peritricos, forman pilis, y fimbrias. No forman c\u00E1psulas de gran espesor ni esporas.\u200B El g\u00E9nero Yersinia incluye tres especies pat\u00F3genas: Yersinia enterocolitica, Yersinia pestis y Yersinia pseudotuberculosis. Yersinia enterocolitica es responsable de producir desde un s\u00EDndrome diarreico hasta septicemia y muerte.
