| - Brett Gurewitz (born May 12, 1962) is a guitarist and songwriter in Bad Religion. He is also the owner of the record label Epitaph.Gurewitz owns Westbeach Recorders and has engineered several Bad Religion records using he pseudonym %22The Legendary Starbolt%22.Brett co-founded Bad Religion in 1980, along with Greg Graffin. Jay Bentley, and Jay Ziskrout. He founded Epitaph Records in 1981. He quit Bad Religion in 1983 following the release of the %22Into The Unknown%22 LP and spent several years mired in a drug addiction. During that time, he worked for Chameleon Records. In 1985, using the psuedonym %22Billy Pilgrim%22, he recorded and released a 5 song E.P. under the moniker %22The Seeing Eye Gods%22, collaborating with a friend who was allegedly his cocaine dealer. In 1987, after getting sober, Brett rejoined Bad Religion and remained with the band until 1994, when he left again. Officially, he left to concentrate on Epitaph after the success of the Offspring, but it was later revealed that the real reason had to do with personal tension within the group and a blow-out fight with Jay Bentley was the final straw. In 1996, Brett launched the Daredevils, who released a 7%22 called %22Hate You%22, whose title track was said to be aimed at Bentley. That group was sidetracked when Brett relapsed into drug abuse. Brett eventually landed in jail on a drug possession charge before getting sober again. In 2001, he rejoined Bad Religion. However, his participation is limited to writing and studio work, as his focus is still on running Epitaph. He makes occassional live appearances when the band performs in Los Angeles.

| - Brett W. Gurewitz (born May 12, 1962), nicknamed Mr. Brett, is the guitarist and a songwriter of Bad Religion. He is also the owner of the music label Epitaph Records (which has handled many Bad Religion releases) and sister-labels ANTI-, Burning Heart Records, Fat Possum Records, and Hellcat Records. He has produced albums for Bad Religion as well as Epitaph Records labelmates NOFX, Rancid, and Pennywise, among others. Gurewitz also had a project called Error, which also featured Atticus Ross, Leopold Ross, and Greg Puciato.Gurewitz joined Bad Religion in 1979 at the age of 17, when he, Greg Graffin, Jay Bentley and Jay Ziskrout agreed to form a band. After releasing two albums and one EP, Gurewitz left Bad Religion in 1983, but rejoined three years later when the How Could Hell Be Any Worse? line-up (adding guitarist Greg Hetson as the second guitarist) was reuniting, and recorded five more albums with the band before they signed to Atlantic Records in 1993. Their Atlantic debut, Stranger Than Fiction (1994), was a breakthrough success, scoring their biggest hits %2221st Century (Digital Boy)%22 and %22Infected%22. However, he was overwhelmed by Epitaph's new popularity (including the unexpected success of the label's then-current acts The Offspring and Rancid) and decided to quit Bad Religion once again in 1994. Gurewitz continued working at Epitaph after his departure from Bad Religion, and released the %22Hate You%22 single in 1996 with his one-off project Daredevils. During that time, he entered a period of drug addiction. By 1999, Gurewitz had successfully completed drug rehabilitation and reconciled with Graffin to co-write a song %22Believe It%22, which appears on Bad Religion's 2000 album The New America. He eventually rejoined the band in 2001 to write and record the album The Process of Belief (2002). He remains with the band today, but only occasionally joins them live, such as when they are performing near his hometown or for televised appearances. Bad Religion has since released four more albums: The Empire Strikes First (2004), New Maps of Hell (2007), The Dissent of Man (2010), and True North (2013). Brett hasn't played lead guitar at live performances with Bad Religion since 2007, however he occasionally contributes lead guitar to songs on some records. He did the solo in the song %22Sorrow%22, as well the last lead parts of %22Only Rain%22, %22Ad Hominem%22, and %22My Head Is Full Of Ghosts%22. Needless to say however, he has rarely done solos since Brian Baker came into the band. He played no lead guitar on the albums %22New Maps Of Hell%22 and %22The Empire Strikes First%22.In the past, Brett has engineered several albums using the pseudonym %22The Legendary Starbolt%22.
