A seminal figure in the NYC hardcore scene, Cappo originally hailed from Connecticut where he got his start as the drummer for Violent Children and singer for one of the most influential American hardcore bands, Youth of Today. Co-founder of Revelation Records in 1987, of which went on to initiate bands such as Gorilla Biscuits and Sick of it All in to the broader hardcore scene. Eventually breaking away from Revelation, Cappo converted his straight edge ideals into a more religious based following in Harikrishna. Following this new path, he founded a new band Shelter and record label Equal Vision Records both focused on promoting the teachings and practices of the Krishnas. In the late 90s he also formed band Better Than A Thousand.
