About:
We present a case where point-of-care lung ultrasound was used to identify the source of progressive multi-organ failure when a chest X-ray (CXR) and other routine tests failed to provide a conclusive answer. Post-case discussion focuses on the following: (1) the relative strengths and weaknesses of CXR versus lung ultrasound in screening for lung disease; and (2) suggestions of how lung ultrasound practice can be standardized within the field of anesthesiology.
